PUBLIC WORKS & PROPERTY VACATION APRIL 28, 2014 3:30 P.M.
Committee Members Present: Henry Davis, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Tim Scott, Valerie Schey
Citizens Members Present: Tom Capers (AB)
Other Council Present: Dr. Davis Varner, Oliver Davis, Gavin Ferlic, Derek Dieter,
Karen White
Others Present: Cecil Eastman, Jim Lopez, Carey McTiever, Rahman Johnson,
Erin Blasko, Kathy Cekanski- Farrand, Kathryn Roos, Richard
Moll, John Voorde
Agenda: Bill No. 22 -14 Alley Vacation South of Vine Street East of
20th St.
Bill 22 -14, the only item on the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee agenda, is a bill to
vacate an alley south of Vine St. between 201h and 215t Street.
With all members present Chairman Henry Davis asked the petitioner Richard Moll to make a
presentation. Mr. Moll noted this bill has been continued by the Council to allow Mr. Moll to satisfy an
objection by an affected nearby resident and also to allow Mr. Moll to contract IUSB for their view. Mr.
Moll said the parking plan was altered to increase the number of spaces in the vacated portion. This
satisfied the neighbors' concerns. On the other hand Mr. Moll said repeated efforts to contact IUSB for
feedback were to no avail. Feeling approval of the vacation from IUSB was necessary the Council
Committee sent the bill to full Council with no recommendation advising the petitioner to continue
efforts to contact IUSB. It was Valerie Schey who made the motion. Dr. Fred Ferlic made the second
which all affirmed.
Council member Karen White took one more opportunity to urge the petitioner to contact IUSB officials.
With that Henry Davis adjourned the meeting at 3:46 P.M.
Respectfully SuPT fitted,
Henry Davis, Chairperson
Public Works & Property Vacation
