NOBLE, CLERK <br />ORDINANCE NO.�°� <br />An Ordinance establishing a new schedule <br />of rates and charges for services rendered <br />by the waterworks system of the City of <br />South Bend. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has <br />authorized the making of extensions and additions to the mniciPal <br />waterworks of said City for the purpose of providing an adequate <br />supply of water at proper pressure to the inhabitants of the City <br />and protecting properly the health, well -being and property of <br />the City and its inhabitants; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to procure the necessary funds to pay <br />the cost of construction and installation of said extensions and <br />additions it is necessary for the City to issue and sell water- <br />works revenue -bonds payable solely out of the revenues of said <br />waterworks system, which revenues under the existing schedule of <br />rates and charges are insufficient to enable the City to finance <br />the needed extensions and additions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council now finds that the existing <br />rates and charges for the use of and service rendered by the <br />waterworks of said City are too low and are insufficient to <br />enable the City to properly operate its waterworks plant, pro- <br />vide for depreciation, and finance said extensions and additions; <br />that the proposed extensions and additions will improve the <br />service rendered by said waterworks system and make the same <br />of greater value to the City and its inhabitants, and that the <br />
