The Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />The attached proposed ordinance originated by the City <br />Planning Commission to rezone from "C" Commercial Use <br />and "E" Height and Area District to "B" Residential Use <br />and "A" Height and Area District Lots Numbered 9, 107 <br />and. 11, Fowlers 1st Sub. of B.O.L. 85 and 86; Lots Num- <br />bered 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, Fowlers 2nd Sub. of B.O.L. <br />85 and 86; Lots Numbered 47, 48, 49, and 50, Commissioners <br />Sub, of B.O.L. 85 and 86; and Lots Numbered 7, 8, 9, 10, <br />151 161 17, 18, 231 247 25, and. 26, Knoblock Sub. of <br />B.O.L. 84; more generally described as both sides of <br />Walnut Street from the first east -west alley south of <br />Washington Street, south to Napier Street, was legally <br />advertised under date of May 28, 1962 and. given public <br />hearing on June 14, 1962. The following action was taken: <br />After due consideration the Commission found <br />that the best zoning for the area in question <br />would be residential. It was therefore duly <br />moved, seconded, and unanimously carried that <br />the petition be recommended. favorably to the <br />Council. It was further a sense of the <br />meeting that as a reflection of the sentiments <br />expressed at the hearing the ordinance be <br />amended from the floor to read "A" Residential <br />Use and "A" Height and Area District, the Com- <br />mission being unable to amend from the adver- <br />tised ordinance, thus requiring additional ad- <br />vertising and another public hearing. <br />Very truly yours, <br />CITY PLA ING COMMISSION <br />rt L.
