ORDINANCE NO. l t 3 ~i -~~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA APPROPRIATING $215,000 FROM THE MORRIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IMPROVEMENT FUND (FUND NUMBER 416) STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Morns Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund (Fund No. 416) was established for the purpose of renovating, remodeling, or otherwise improving the facilities at the Morris Performing Arts Center. The Morris Performing Arts Center desires to make certain capital improvements which will enhance its .status as an efficient, updated performing arts facility. These proposed capital expenditures include $3,500 for the installation of a time clock system currently used by the street department which will eliminate time sheets and streamline the payroll preparation process; $1,000 to purchase sound equipment to provide announcement and background music capabilities to the lobby and seating areas; $5,500 to purchase rigging loft blocks for holding curtains, scenery, cables, side tabs, etc of which the Morris presently has only half the number needed for its shows; and $25,000 for the renovation of the box office in order to modernize it, provide for better lobby traffic flow and improve service to all ticket patrons. Additionally, the recent Morns restoration project as approved by this Council included the use of $180,000 from Fund No. 416 toward the renovation costs. The Common Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of South Bend to appropriate the requested funds from the Morns Civic Improvement Fund (Fund No. 416) for the requested purchase of equipment, renovation, and restoration costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. The following sums of money are hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from and within the Morns Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund: Account Number Description Amount 416 Moms Performing Arts $215,000 Center Improvement Fund Section II.
