3) Its identification with the life of a person or persons of historical significance. <br />The structure fulfills criteria # 1 as an example of a combination of popular 1920's <br />architectural styles, being the Bungalow and the Craftsman. The building is rated an S/11 <br />in the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory. <br />The structure fulfills criteria #2 by its possession of Bungalow and Craftsman detailing <br />with virtually no changes. The Bungalow was popularized by the British in India and <br />made its way to America in 1920. It soon became a sought after style for new homes. It <br />was often combined with either Prairie or Craftsman detailing. This house is a classic <br />example of the use of two architectural styles at there high point of their popularity. <br />The site and structures fulfills criteria #3 by its association with prominent real estate <br />developer, Leslie Whitcomb.
