ORDINANCE NO.� <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE USE OF METER MAIDS <br />ON STREETS AND SIDEWALKS IN THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND AND THE JURISDICTION OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE <br />OVER SAID METER MAIDS.. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND <br />SECTION I. That Meter Maids shall be con - commissioned <br />personnel under the jurisdiction of the Chief of <br />Police, who shall be responsible for their super- <br />vision and direction. Their duties shall be to <br />patrol assigned areas during periods designated, <br />and they are empowered to enforce all parking <br />regulations, and those ordinances pertaining to <br />pedestrians and bicycles; to issue violation tickets <br />or notices on forms prescribed by the Department; <br />to answer inquiries and give directions to the public <br />and to be of service within the range of the job as- <br />signment; to observe, record and report defective <br />or damaged meters; and to perform such other <br />duties as are related to those enumerated. They <br />shall not be police officers and shall have no. police <br />powers to arrest. They shall wear a uniform pre- <br />scribed by the Chief of Police. The Meter Maids ` <br />salaries, uniforms and any and all other cost of <br />operation shall be reimbursed from the Parking <br />Meter receipts. <br />SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from <br />and after its passage by the Common Council, its <br />approval by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all <br />statutory requirements. <br />CG1 HE WHOLE <br />kEFEi��E�7 <br />1�/6 L <br />
