ORDINANCE N0. I­o — <br />AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING DRIVERS OF MOTOR <br />VEHICLES INVOLVED. IN CERTAIN CLASSES OF <br />COLLISIONS TO FILE WRITTEN ACCIDENT RE- <br />PORTS WITH THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARYmENT. <br />DEFINING TERMS, AND CLASSIFYING SUCH REPORTS <br />CONFIDENTIAL IN NATURE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA: <br />SECTION I. DEFINITIONS• The terms, words, and phrases used <br />in this ordinance shall have the meanings ascribed to them in <br />that certain Ordinance known as "The Traffic Code of the City,1° <br />being Chapter 25, Section 2 of an Ordinance duly enacted and <br />adopted by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana.on the 14th day of October, 1963, numbered 4608 -63 <br />and known as "Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, 1962." <br />SECTION II. DUTY TO REPORT ACCIDENTS: The driver of any ve- <br />hicle involved in an accident resulting in injuries or death <br />to any person or property damage to an apparent extent of <br />Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or more, shall within twenty -four (24) <br />hours make a written report of such accident at the police <br />headquarters on forms provided by the police department. <br />ar,uriuiv Ill. ACCIDENT REPORTS CONFIDENTIAL: Accident reports <br />required to be made and filed under this Ordinance shall be <br />treated by the police department as confidential, and in <br />(every event shall be subject to the requirements of the Acts <br />of Indiana for the year 1939, ch. 48. Section 50, p. 259, <br />compiled' as Burns Indiana Annotated Statutes, Section 47 -1920. <br />Q .- <br />SECTION IV. SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF ORDINANCE: This Ordinance <br />is supplementary to, and is not intended to replace or sup- <br />plant, any accident reporting ordinance, statute or regulation <br />in force at the time of its adoption. <br />SECTION V.
