Office of the Mayor

MEDIA ADVISORY
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 1:30 p.m.

Contact: Mikki Dobski, Communications & Spec. Projects, 574-235-5855 c. 574-876-1564

EBA – Eagles for a Better Adams

South Bend, IN:
Students from Adams High School have formed a new, student
organization – EBA – Eagles for a Better Adams. Members of the Adams H.S. Marching Band
and other students came up with the idea to form an organization that is committed to fostering
student pride in John Adams High School and encouraging courtesy, teamwork, and cooperation
in all aspects of student life along with a commitment to community service.
Tomorrow, Thursday, October 23, EBA will be working on a cleanup project at
Potawatomi Park. Ten students, along with Dean of Students Alan Bell, will meet at Kid’s
Kingdom at approximately 11:30/11:45 am to start the cleanup. Armed with trash bags and a
great attitude, they will work through the park area for the cleanup effort.
This is their second project this year, last week they did a similar cleanup along the East
Race and at Howard Park. EBA plans to continue similar projects throughout the school year
including a visit to Karl King Towers to meet and visit with residents and a visit to Hamilton
School to read with students.
The goals of EBA are to make John Adams a safe, clean high school, to instill friendship
among students, to promote leadership skills of its members and pride in John Adams. The
organization also seeks to turn 2,000 individuals into one school body that is proud of JAHS!
-30-
