CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />PETITION FOR REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT CONSIDERATION <br />The undersigned owner(s) of real property, located within the City of South Bend, hereby <br />petition the Common Council of the City of South Bend for real property tax abatement <br />consideration and pursuant to I.C., 6 -1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq., and South Bend Municipal Code <br />Sec. 2 -76 et seq., for this petition states the following: <br />Unless otherwise noted herein, the responses to the following questions pertain <br />only to Phase I of the proposed project. Reference should be made to Form SB- <br />1 /Real Property Statement of Benefits for the proposed project for a more detailed <br />description of Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV of the proposed project. <br />1. Describe the proposed redevelopment or rehabilitation project, including information <br />about physical improvements to be made, the proposed use of the improvements, <br />and a general statement as to the importance of the project to your business: <br />The proposed project is a new technology park to be known as the "Innovation Park <br />at Notre Dame" (`7P @ND') and will include the construction of four buildings on an <br />approximately 12 acre site, with construction to begin on the first building (Phase I) in <br />the early fall 2008 and be completed within 12 to 24 months. The Master Plan for the <br />project anticipates three additional buildings to be phased in between 2010 and 2018. <br />The future phases are expected to include a free - standing addition to the first building <br />(Phase 11) followed by two additional separate buildings (Phases 111 and IV) on the <br />main site. A further facility may also be added on the approximately two -acre portion <br />on the east side of Twyckenham Drive. <br />The first building (Phase I) will be the main gathering area for the entire park, and <br />provide most of the essential common areas, conference facilities and training <br />resources. Phase I will comprise a facility of approximately 54,000 sq ft on three <br />levels, with the reception area, administration space and "Greenhouse" incubator <br />facility (approximately 6, 000 sq ft) on the first level. The second and third levels will be <br />designed as `build -to -suit' tenant areas for general office space and dry or wet lab <br />configurations. <br />Land Size approximately 12 acres; Building Size approximately 54,000 sq.ft. <br />2. Describe the overall nature of the business and of the operations occurring at the <br />Property (attach additional sheet if more space is needed): <br />The IP @ND will encourage the initiation and growth of world -class research activity <br />on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, and in collaboration with other <br />universities and colleges. The IP @ND will act as abase for the technology platform <br />development in addressing basic human needs, such as water, nutrition, clean air, <br />health, shelter, education, communications, transportation, energy and the <br />(Rev 12/29/06) <br />
