2009 South Bend Fire Department Salary Ordinance -Page 2 Section I. Reco nib: The South Bend Common Council recognizes the Fire Negotiating Team which represents the South Bend Firefighters' Association Local No. 362 of the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, except the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs for purposes of negotiating annual pay and monetary fringe benefits which are addressed in this ordinance. Section II. (a). Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications" mean categories for salary and annual pay purposes only. Rank does not mean salary classification. (b). Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual pays for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department shall have the base salaries paid effective 01-01-09 being at the same maximum amounts as those paid in 2008, and the 2009 salary increases becoming effective 04-01-09, which shall be as follows: Salary Classification Fire Chief Assistant Fire Chiefs Battalion Chiefs Captains Engineers First Class Firefighter Firefighter Effective O 1-01-09 $76,920 $70,560 $60,892 $50,075 $48,270 $44,150 $35,535 Effective 04-01-09 $78,189 $71,724 $61,897 $50,901 $49,066 $44,150 $36,121 (c). Annual Pay for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of the South Bend Fire Department shall be $35,613 for the 2009 calendar year. (d). Salaries for Non-Rank Specialties: Qualified sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department who are regularly assigned to perform any of the following non-rank specialties, shall be paid effective 01-01-09 at the same maximum amounts as those paid in 2008, and the 2009 non-rank specialties increases becoming effective 04-01-09, which shall be as follows: Non-Rank Specialties: Arson Investigators Inspectors Instructors Lieutenant/Paramedic Pump Engineer/First Driver Effective O 1-01-09 $50,075 $50,075 $50,075 $49,670 $48,860 Effective 04-01-09 $50,901 $50,901 $50,901 $50,490 $49,666 Section III. Specialty Pays: (a).
