Projects, 574-235-5855 c. 574-876-1564 <br /> <br />South Bend recognizes 2008 Olympian – <br /> Leroy Dixon, Jr. during special event at LaSalle <br />Intermediate Academy <br /> <br /> On Thursday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m., the City of South Bend and the South Bend <br />Common Council will join LaSalle Intermediate Academy administrators and students to honor <br />Leroy Dixon, Jr., a LaSalle High School graduate and member of 2008 Beijing Olympics Men’s <br />4x100 Relay Team. <br />Council member Henry Davis Jr. will give a brief introduction followed by a biography of <br />Leroy Dixon Jr. The South Bend Community School Corporation will present an award to <br />Dixon, followed by a special presentation from the City. Mr. Dixon will also address the students <br />and members of the media. <br />The dedication will take place in the Lasalle Intermediate Academy Gymnasium. Students <br />will attend and participate in the ceremony. <br />Mr. Dixon made his Olympic debut this past summer in Beijing.
