Airport Economic Development Area <br />(3) continued... <br />Mr. Eagan asked again if there had ever been <br />a study that shows that, or is that just <br />someone's best guess. Mr. Zahner didn't <br />believe a study was necessary. The data is <br />pretty straight-forward. <br />Ms. Jones thanked everyone for their updates <br />and input. She stressed that the Commission <br />is committed to continuing the momentum <br />that has been present during this planning <br />and to seeing the LaSalle Square area <br />revitalized. <br />Mr. King, who has been involved with the <br />Northeast Neighborhood revitalization for <br />fifteen years, pointed out how long it has <br />taken for the Northeast Neighborhood to <br />bring the development at Eddy Street <br />Commons to fruition. He said you have to <br />keep the ball moving, but you also have to be <br />patient. The Northeast Neighborhood <br />Council received its final planning report <br />November 14, 1998. Ten years later, it still <br />isn't done. It's been moving all that time, but <br />it's taken ten years to get to where Eddy <br />Street Commons is starting to be built. Just <br />because it isn't done in five years, doesn't <br />mean it's been forgotten, or that it isn't <br />working. It just takes a lot of time to get all <br />of the pieces together and to attract the <br />developers and the money together to get the <br />result where you want it to be. The <br />neighbors in the Northeast Neighborhood <br />never felt that things had stopped. They <br />wanted it sooner, as you do. But as time <br />went on, everyone learned more about how <br />18 <br />
