With the Salvation Army KROC Center, South Bend Silver Hawks, and Four
Winds Field teaming up with the program, readers will have an incentive to
read. After a child reads five books and turns in book reports for each, they will
receive 4 day passes to the KROC Center or 4 tickets to a Silver Hawks game at
Four Winds Field.
Dieter and Coyle believe the program promotes literacy in South Bend, provides
for positive activities, and would like to keep developing the program so at
some point youth could receive small scholarships for college.
Barb Coyle stated Better World Books has been in existence for 10 years.
Located in Mishawaka, they employ 400 workers, and to date have donated
close to 3 million books across the United States and all over the world.
www.betterworldbooks.com
Over the past year Dieter passed out over 3,000 books working as an officer,
and another 600 on St. Patrick's Day. "This is one of the best programs I have
ever been associated with, with kids calling to turn in book reports; their
parents are excited to see their children reading."
Contact:
Derek Dieter 532-2200
Barb Coyle 855-5240
Joe Hart 276-4191 South Bend Silver Hawks
Major Bob Webster 261-0923 Salvation Army KROC Center
