Currently, the State of
Indiana has chosen not to participate in the expansion of Medicaid.
Under the ACA, States may choose to expand Medicaid to Hoosiers living under
138% of the Federal Poverty level, therefore providing healthcare coverage to
those residents who do not qualify for traditional Medicaid, but who earn not
enough to be eligible for subsidies to purchase health insurance in the Indiana
Health Insurance Exchange.
Expanded Medicaid would cover health screenings, doctor visits, prescriptions,
dental and vision, mental health and economic benefits to the State and its
residents. By 2020, Medicaid expansion will bring in $10.5 billion to the State
and will spur the creation of approximately 30,000 jobs in Indiana.
I look forward to your favorable support on this measure.
O
Va erie Schey
Dr. Fred Ferlic
