2009 South Bend Fire Department Salary and Monetary Fringe Benefit Ordinance
September 3, 2008
Page 2
Negotiating Team under the auspice of interest -based negotiations. As a result, the best possible
package, which is believed to be fair and reasonable, was achieved.
We recommend that the South Bend Common Council refer this ordinance to the Personnel and
Finance Committee and the Health and Public Safety Committee for a joint meeting to be
scheduled for Monday, September 22"d. We further recommend that this ordinance be passed that
evening by the Common Council.
A joint press release was jointly issued by the Firefighters Local No. 362 and the City of South Bend
on August 25th after the negotiating teams reached a tentative agreement. As noted then "...the teams
worked hard to assure that firefighters and the public safety services which they perform on a
24/7 basis remain a key priority in the City of South Bend ". Thank you.
Most sincerely,
Council Member Thomas LaFountain
City's Advisory Negotiating Team Member
Council Member Oliver Davis
City's Advisory Negotiating Team Member
Council Member Henry Davis, Jr.
City's Advisory Negotiating Team - Alternate
Attachment
Council Member Ann Puzzello
City's Advisory Negotiating Team Member
Council Member Karen L.
