ORDINANCE N0. e-17 1f- -- G `1 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SCHEDULE OF RATES AND CHARGES FOR SERVICES RENDERED BY THE WATER WORKS SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO AREAS OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIMITS AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 46519 PASSED MAY 11, 1964 AND ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SCHEDULE OF RATES AND CHARGES FOR SERVICES RENDERED BY THE WATER WORKS SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO AREAS OUT- SIDE THE SOUTH BEND CITY LIMITS ". WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend finds that the extension of water transmission mains and service mains for the furnishing of water service by the Water Works of City of South Bend to areas outside the Corporate Limits of the City of South Bend for the benefit of permanent consumers and prospective permanent consumers is desirable and necessary to the development and expansion of such areas and to properly protect the health, well -being and property of such areas and their inhabitants, and will benefit the general welfare of the inhabi- tants of the said City; and, WHEREAS, the Water Works of the City of South Bend would incur the cost of installing and maintaining fire hydrants and provide water for fire protection to said areas and would incur additional cost in maintaining and servicing more remote water mains and consumers; and, WHEREAS, there are no water rates or charges established for service to said areas, outside the Corporate Limits of the City of South Bend, and the Common Council now finds that rates and charges should be established; now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION I. That there shall be and there is hereby established for the use of and the service by the Water Works System of the City of South Bend to consumers outside the Corporate Limits of the City of South Bend rates and charges equal to such rates and charges as are established for consumers within the City of South Bend plus twenty percent (20 %) thereof. SECTION II. An ordinance designated as Ordinance No. 4651 and entitled, "An Ordinance Establishing A Schedule Of Rates And Charges For Service Rendered By The Water Works System Of The City Of South Bend To Areas Outside The South Bend City Limits passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, May 11, 1964 and approved by the Mayor, May 16, 1964 is hereby repealed by this Ordinance. SECTION III. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor, and at such time as the rates and charges established herein are approved by the Indiana Public Service Commission or at such time as said Commission shall direct. is; c'. 21d C� ']7E.E.
