Appropriating $1,500,000 for the Acquisition of land as a Site or Sites for, and the Construction, Furnishing and Equipment of, a Building or Buildings

WHEREAS, the Council now finds that an extraordinary emergency exists for the expenditure of more money for the current year than was set out in detail in the published budget and that the acquisition of such land and the construction, furnishing and equipment of such buildings is necessary in order to protect the well -being and the property of its citizens and will be of general benefit to the entire City and its citizens; and WHEREAS, the Council now finds that the City has no funds available or provided for in the existing budgets and tax levies which may be applied on said projects, making it necessary to authorize the issuance of bonds of the City in order to procure such funds, and that an extraordinary emergency exists for the making of the additional appropriation hereinafter set out; NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED By THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: Section 1. That the sum of ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,500,000) be, and the same is, hereby appropriated out of the proceeds of the bonds designated as "Municipal Bonds of 1965", heretofore authorized to be issued to provide funds for the acquisition of land as a site or sites for, and the construction, furnishing and equipment of, a building or buildings as a centralized city facility to house various departments, offices and branches of city govern- ment and also to provide for the housing and maintenance of city equipment of the City of South Bend, Indiana; together with the incidental expenses in connection with the foregoing and on account of the issuance of bonds therefor. Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing by the Mayor.
