BLOUGH <br />CITY CLERK, SOUTH BEND, IND. <br />NO. 4858 -66 <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF <br />LAND BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />WHEREIN THE PURCHASE PRICE EXCEEDS THE <br />SUM OF $2,000.00. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA: <br />WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission of the State of Indiana <br />has let a public contract for the improvement of Western Avenue <br />as it extends through the City of South Bend, Indiana, said <br />Western Avenue being otherwise known as State Road No. 2 and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the best interest of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana that when said improvement is accomplished that said State <br />Highway should be widened in the vicinity of the intersection of <br />Laurel Street and said Western Avenue and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana by agreement with the State Highway Commission of the <br />State of Indiana to acquire the necessary right of way for such <br />widening and, <br />WHEREAS, the parcel of real estate necessary for the widening of <br />the approach to said intersection is now privately owned and, <br />WHEREAS, the purchase of said real estate will exceed the sum of <br />$2,000.00, <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: <br />SECTION I. Tha the purchase b the City of South Bend, Indiana <br />for the sum of P24 Dollars of the following <br />described real est -aafe in the County of St. Joseph, City of <br />South Bend, State of Indiana, to -wit: <br />A parcel of land located in a part of bank out lot <br />No. 91 second plat of out lots City of South Bend <br />described as follows viz: <br />Beginning at the intersection of the south <br />line of Western Avenue (formerly Division Street) <br />and the west line of Laurel Street as presently <br />located; thence south along the west line of the <br />above mentioned Laurel Street a distance of 15 <br />feet, thence west parallel with the south line of <br />the above mentioned Western Avenue (formerly <br />Division Street) a distance of 85 feet; thence <br />northwesterly along a straight line 75 feet to a <br />point on the south line of Western Avenue (formerly <br />c <br />
