N--�o <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />DECLARING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS IN FEBRUARY 2014 AS NATIONAL SCHOOL <br />COUNSELING WEEKS IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA WITH THIS YEAR'S THEME BEING <br />"SCHOOL COUNSELING: BUILDING MAGICAL FUTURES" <br />(WAC� the South Bend Common Council recognizes that the American School Counselor <br />Association (ASCA) sponsored the National School Counseling Week with that celebration taking place <br />February 3 through February 7, 2014; and <br />the Council further recognizes that the ASCA focused this year's celebration on the <br />"unique contributions of professional school counselors" within schools across America and the <br />"tremendous impact school counselor can have in helping students achieve school success" in <br />preparation for productive and meaningful careers; and <br />this year's theme is "School Counseling: Building Magical Futures" which provides the <br />opportunity for all school counselors to demonstrate how they are truly the foundation to helping <br />"construct healthy and happy school environments'; and <br />the Common Council is proud to acknowledge how school counselors have the needed <br />training, dedication, and abilities to actively engage students to examine their talents, interests and <br />abilities while working in partnership with parents, teachers and other educators in helping each student <br />maximize his or her individual potentials and foster personal growth; and <br />W" currently there are more than 30,000 school counselors nationally which have been <br />educated in comprehensive developmental school counseling programs. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council hereby publicly thanks and commends all of the school counselors employed in our public and <br />private school systems for positively engaging with our youth, their parents, and fellow educators in <br />helping further and enhance the educational, personal and social growth of students and youth across our <br />great nation. e <br />Section 11. The South Bend Common Council hereby declares the first two (2) weeks of <br />February, 2014, as National School Counseling Weeks in South Bend, Indiana, and sincerely thanks all <br />school counselors for their many contributions aimed at the betterment our yo f�d especially thanks <br />all school counselors working in the City of South Bend, Indiana, for their d icaF% artd service. <br />Section III.
