TO: Members of the Common Council <br />RE: Water Works - Portable Air Compressor <br />I <br />FROM:' John L. Hunter, Superintendent of Utilities <br />A Notice to Bidders was published in the South Bend <br />Tribune and Tri- County News on January 3 and 10, 1969. <br />Bids were submitted on January 20, 1969. <br />At our regular Board meeting of January 20, 1969, the <br />following bids were received: <br />A. H. Choitz & Company, Incorporated $3,556.00 i <br />Korte Brothers, Incorporated 3,743.20 <br />Stockberger Machinery, Incorporated 3,101.00 <br />Indiana Equipment Company, Incorporated 3,900.00 <br />The bids above all include hose reels on both sides. <br />They all were referred to my office for review and <br />recommendation. <br />The bids were reviewed and discussed with Mr. John <br />McCauslin, Water Works Superintendent of Operations, <br />and Mr. Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer. It is our <br />recommendation that the low bid be taken from Stock - <br />berger Machinery, Incorporated. The Board approved <br />same on February 3, 1969. <br />The Ingersoll Rand portable compressor, presently <br />operated by the Water Works, is being traded on this <br />new piece of equipment. This unit is now 15 years old <br />and is deteriorated to the point that it does not per- <br />form as needed. For example, it does not produce the <br />necessary air, as originally rated, to do the necessary <br />
