ORDINANCE NO. ` 30 3 -O~ <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />APPROPRIATING $6,900 FROM THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUND (#212) TO <br />PROVIDE LEAD-SAFE WORK PRACTICES TRAINING <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The City applied for and was awarded certain grant funds from the US Department of <br />Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to provide training to contractors and landlords <br />in standard "lead-safe work practices" as required by new HUD regulations (24 CFR Part 35) which <br />became effective January 10, 2002. The funds which will be deposited into Economic Development <br />Fund #212 are appropriated herein to help underwrite the cost of training approximately ninety (90) <br />contractors and landlords who receive federal funds to either rehabilitate housing or operate and <br />maintain rental properties.
