It authorizes submission of a grant application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on behalf of the St Joseph County Brownfield Assessment Coalition. The City of South Bend will serve as the lead agency for this Coalition which will be made up of the City of South Bend, the City of Mishawaka, and St Joseph County. If the grant application is approved by the EPA, we will return to the Council for the coalition to be formalized. On behalf of the Coalition, we intend to submit an application for a $600,000 Assessment Grant that will fund environmental assessments within St Joseph County. The Coalition members plan to use a portion of the grant to prepare a new inventory of brownfield sites within the three jurisdictions of the Coalition.
