<br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: <br />August 26, 2008 <br />Downtown Football Fridays Block Party Kick-Off <br />Friday, September 5 <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br /> – Mark your calendars for Friday, September 5 at 6:00 p.m.! It’s the first of <br />six Football Fridays Block Party events to be held in the heart of downtown South Bend. Each Friday, <br />before a Notre Dame home football game, the 100 block of South Michigan Street will be closed to <br />traffic, tents will be pitched, and people will gather to celebrate and kick-off each home game weekend. <br />The 2008 Football Fridays Block Party, located near the College Football Hall of Fame, will feature <br />games and activities hosted by and benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), pre-Block <br />Party flag football league games on the Hall of Fame’s Gridiron, the U.S. Army football toss, festive <br />tailgate food and beverages by Upper Deck Catering along with game day merchandise from the College <br />Football Hall of Fame on sale. Live musical performances by popular regional bands take place from 7 to <br />10:00 p.m. at every Block Party. <br />Mack <br />The 2008 Football Fridays Block Party dates and performance schedule begins September 5 with <br />Pherson and the Struts <br /> playing high energy Rock n’ Roll with a dash of Motown sound. September 12 <br />Stillshot <br />features a Rock/Pop cover band playing cutting edge songs from nearly every genre. New to the <br />Creole Stomp <br />2008 Block Party series is playing on September 26. A true French Creole band with a <br />little Blues, Rock, Country, Swing, Celtic and Latin mixed in for a truly unique sound. October 3 features <br />Uncut Version <br />another first timer, , melding Rock, Dance, Pop and Alternative music to all-time favorites <br />Peach Tree Otis, <br />and originals. playing October 31, is new to the’08 line-up and fuses medleys of <br />modern and classic hits from artists like Tom Petty, The Doobie Brothers, Stone Temple Pilots, Led <br /> This End Up <br />Zeppelin, and many more. Last but not least on November 21 isknown for playing a <br />diverse array of music including Classic Rock, Top 40, Oldies, Country, R&B and more. <br />Page 1.
