QpUTH <br />�� I. <br />2013 Annual Report of the Community Investment <br />Committee of the South Bend Common Council <br />Date: December 30, 2013 <br />To: The South Bend Common Council <br />The Office of the City Clerk <br />From: Council Member at Large Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson <br />Community Investment Committee <br />This Annual Report is filed as a requirement of Section 2 -10 (i) of the South Bend Municipal <br />Code which calls for a report from the Chairperson of each of the Council's Standing Committee <br />by the 2nd Monday in December. <br />Duties: <br />The Community Investment Committee is charged with the following duties pursuant to Section <br />2 -10 of the South Bend Municipal Code: <br />"Oversees the various activities of the Department of Community Investment. This <br />Committee reviews all real and personal tax abatement requests. " <br />2013 Committee Members and Number of Committee Meetings: <br />The member of the Community Investment Committee this year include Henry Davis, Jr. who <br />serves as Vice - Chairperson, Valerie Schey, Dr. Fred Ferlic, with myself as Chairperson. I <br />appointed Janeen Crane and Patrick Mullin this year to serve as a citizen members of this <br />committee. <br />The Community Investment Committee met twenty (20) times this year. <br />Community Investment Committee Meeting Topics: <br />Investment in the City of South Bend and job creation were the primary focal points of the Cl <br />Committee working with the City Administration. Scott Ford, Executive Director of the <br />Community Investment Department was invited to the committee's organizational meeting and <br />highlighted the department's goals and priorities for the committee year. Some of the key <br />legislative items which furthered those goals and objectives included reviewing and taking <br />positive actions on the following: <br />
