Zurat, Fire Chief <br />RE <br />Explanation of transfer of funds <br />Due to the increase of large buildings in the City, <br />there is a problem of communications in these build- <br />ings. We, also, understand that more high rise <br />buildings are forthcoming. With this in mind, we <br />would like five additional two -way portable radios <br />in our department. So we are asking your consider- <br />ation for a transfer of $4,375.00 which would enclude <br />the radios, chargers, batteries and carrying cases. <br />This transfer could be made from : -11, Salaries, to <br />q -724, Radio Equipment <br />Some of the advantages of two -way portable radios are <br />to call back to the ground for additional help or <br />equipment. Also, to call back to Chief Officers as <br />soon as the fire or trouble is spotted. They could <br />be used to call back to personnel for shutting off <br />gas, water, or whatever is necessary. <br />SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTI:IENT <br />
