Police Pay, 1972 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5318 -71 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF <br />POLICEMEN FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1972 <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The annual pay of the officers and members <br />of the police force of the City of South Bend for the year 1972, <br />by rank and classification, shall be as follows: <br />Chief <br />Division Chief <br />Captain <br />Lieutenant <br />Sergeant <br />Corporal <br />First Class <br />Patrolman <br />Officer in <br />Patrolman <br />Training <br />$14,456.00 <br />11,900.00 <br />10,542.00 FILED IN CLERK'S OFFICE <br />10,227.00 <br />9,448.00 JUN 241971 <br />8,780.00 <br />8,112.00 KATHRYN L. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, <br />the officers and members of the police force shall receive compen- <br />sation for extra duty and special performance as follows: <br />For time spent in Court appearances and overtime work - <br />$5.00 per hour; <br />For personnel required to work on legal holidays, $32.00 <br />per holiday worked; this shall apply to the following eleven <br />holidays and no others: <br />New Year's Day Labor Day <br />Lincoln's Birthday Columbus Day <br />Washington's Birthday Veterans Day <br />Good Friday Thanksgiving <br />Memorial Day Christmas <br />Fourth of July <br />Education Incentive, to be paid in addition to the <br />annual pay and all other compensation, as follows: <br />For a bachelor's degree from an accredited four -year <br />college or university, or equivalent, $1,500.00 per year; <br />For an associate paper or 2 year degree or equivalent, <br />in an appropriate course of study, $900.00 per year; <br />For hours of credit in acceptable and appropriate <br />college -level courses of study, $10.00 per year per credit -hour <br />for from one to sixty credit hours, and $5.00 per year per <br />credit -hour for all credit hours in excess of sixty up to a <br />maximum of 120 credit hours. <br />SECTION III.
