INDIANA BELL TELEPHONE ALARM SYSTEM <br />The administration has been investigating for several years the <br />feasibility of improving the fire alarm system. Two major points <br />have been considered. <br />1. <br />The potential for <br />reducing <br />the <br />number <br />of false alarms <br />2. <br />Providing a better <br />system <br />at a <br />lower <br />overall cost. <br />After months of investigating the Bell Telephone Alarm System, the <br />administration is now proposing that the City enter into a contract <br />with Bell Telephone for its system. In order to implement the <br />change from our present Gamewell System the following time schedule <br />has been developed. <br />Board Of Public Works Approve <br />Bell Telephone Agreement 3 -15 -71 <br />Submit Appropriation Ordinance of <br />$11,374* to Council 3 -22 -71 <br />Submit Resolution to Ratify Agreement <br />(Bell /City) 3 -22 -71 <br />Adopt Resolution 3 -22 =71 <br />Public Hearing and Passage of <br />Appropriation Ordinance 4 -12 -71 <br />Completion of Installation and Cut -Over <br />from Gamewell to Bell Target Date 9 -1 -71 <br />* Installation $2,115.00 <br />4 Months C $2,314.75/mo. 9,259.00 <br />11,374.00 <br />A comparison of costs and savings on an annual basis following the <br />completed installation is as follows: <br />COST OF BELL SYSTEM: <br />168 Call Boxes $18,648 <br />Switchboard & Private Lines 5,664 <br />Trunk Lines, Etc. 3,465 <br />Total $27,777 <br />
