INDIANA <br />Memo to: Members of the Common Council <br />January 6, 1971 <br />Subject: Ordinance appropriating $25,350.00 for sanitary <br />sewer extention - Airport Industrial Park, Phase III <br />In a continuing effort to attract industry into the South Bend <br />area, the City Administration has agreed to cooperate with the <br />Industrial Foundation,Inc. of South Bend in the development of <br />Phase III of the Airport Industrial Park. <br />As you are aware, this is the area north of Douglas Road and west <br />of Bendix Drive which was recently annexed. The Industrial Founda- <br />tion has (either by purchase or option) control of approximately <br />200 acres of this land. <br />In early November of 1970 the first parcel of land was sold to <br />City Pattern & Foundry: Per our agreement with the Industrial <br />Foundation, we extended water service approximately 750 feet <br />along Douglas Road to service this property. <br />The requested appropriation of $25,350 is for the extension of <br />the sanitary trunk sewer from the existing westerly termination <br />at Bendix Drive west approximately 800 feet to serve this property. <br />This is all a part of the Master Plan for the industrial develop- <br />ment of this entire tract. <br />On January 4, 1971 the Board of Public Works and Safety took bids <br />for the construction of the sewer. The low bidder was Haskins <br />2xcavating Co. of Lakeville at $20,798.00. Engineering costs <br />will be about $2495.00 (12% of $20,798.).
