INDIANA Memo to: Members of the Common Council January 6, 1971 Subject: Ordinance appropriating $25,350.00 for sanitary sewer extention - Airport Industrial Park, Phase III In a continuing effort to attract industry into the South Bend area, the City Administration has agreed to cooperate with the Industrial Foundation,Inc. of South Bend in the development of Phase III of the Airport Industrial Park. As you are aware, this is the area north of Douglas Road and west of Bendix Drive which was recently annexed. The Industrial Founda- tion has (either by purchase or option) control of approximately 200 acres of this land. In early November of 1970 the first parcel of land was sold to City Pattern & Foundry: Per our agreement with the Industrial Foundation, we extended water service approximately 750 feet along Douglas Road to service this property. The requested appropriation of $25,350 is for the extension of the sanitary trunk sewer from the existing westerly termination at Bendix Drive west approximately 800 feet to serve this property. This is all a part of the Master Plan for the industrial develop- ment of this entire tract. On January 4, 1971 the Board of Public Works and Safety took bids for the construction of the sewer. The low bidder was Haskins 2xcavating Co. of Lakeville at $20,798.00. Engineering costs will be about $2495.00 (12% of $20,798.).
