Hunter, Director of Utilities <br />RE: Purchase of Comminutor <br />The proper procedure was followed in advertising for bids, receipt of <br />bids and approval by the Board. The only bid received on this unit <br />was from Chicago Pump. They manufactured the original unit and this <br />is a replacement. We had the comminutor inspected and if the unit is <br />overhauled it will cost $12,300. Since a new unit costs $13,011, it <br />was decided to replace the unit. <br />A comminutor is one of three large grinding machines, similar to <br />garbage grinders, reducing the large debris or waste to a small size <br />{ <br />prior to entry into treatment. <br />Following the installation of this machine an inspection will be made <br />of the other units to determine their condition. <br />FILED IN CLERK'S OFFICE <br />SEP 2 81971 <br />KATHRYN L.
