Department of Public Parks <br />Administrafion Building <br />St, Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46617 <br />August 21, 1972 <br />Mr. Peter Nemeth, President <br />County -City Building <br />217 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Mr. Nemeth: <br />The enclosed ordinance for the Department of Public Parks is requesting the <br />Common council to appropriate $56,453.50 from the General Park Fund to <br />Account #2619 Other Contractual Services ($53x454•50) and Account x-`73, <br />Land ($3,000.00). <br />The $56,453.50 was received from the Department of Housing & Urban Develop - <br />ment_as partial grant payment for expenses incurred at the Linden Park Project. <br />The Park Department has a total grant of $107,533.00 approved for the Linden <br />Project. Expenses were $27,800.00 for land acquisition from the park budget <br />Account #73; $4,191.00 from Account #2619 Services Contractual for appraisal <br />fees, acquisition costs, abstracts and title reviews and federal inspection <br />fees; $249975.00 from the cumulative capital improvement fund for land acqui- <br />siti.on.and $28,421.00 from the Department of Redevelopment for relocation <br />expenses. <br />With the appropriated money, the Department of Public Parks will reimburse <br />the Redevelopment Department $28,421.00 (100% refundable); the G.C.I.F. <br />$12,487,50 (50% refundable) and use $3,000.00 in the land account to purchase <br />the last piece,of property at Linden.and $129545.00 for demolition, attorney <br />fees, condemnation suit and relocation expenses still left to be done at the <br />Linden Project. The State Board of Accounts has advised us that this is the <br />proper procedure to follow in reimbursing Redevelopment and G.C.I.F. <br />The Park Department will file another grant payment request when the Linden <br />Project is completed.
