ORDINANCE NO. 5 S 3 9- 7 3 <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN LAND TO <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />WHEREAS, the Council believes that annexation is <br />necessary for the continued growth of our city; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council desires to annex certain land <br />north of the city, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />SECTION 1. That the following described property <br />in St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, is hereby annexed to and <br />brought within the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />Beginning at the intersection of the south <br />right -of -way line of the Toll Road and the <br />east line of Section 29, Twp. 38 North, Range <br />3 East; <br />thence west along the south right -of -way line of the <br />Indiana Toll Road a distance of one mile to <br />the west line of Section 29, Twp. 38 North, <br />Range 3 East; <br />thence north along the west line of Section 29, <br />Twp. 38 North, Range 3 East, to the north <br />right -of -way line of the Toll Road; <br />thence westerly along the north right -of -way line <br />of the Toll Road to the north and south <br />center line of Section 25, Twp. 38 North, <br />Range 2 East, which line is also the east <br />city limits line of the Town of Roseland; <br />thence north along the east city limits line of the <br />Town of Roseland to the north line of Section <br />25, Twp. 38 North, Range 2 East, which line <br />is also the center line of Cleveland Road; <br />thence west along the north line of said Section 25, <br />Twp. 38 North, Range 2 East to the northwest <br />corner of said Section 25; <br />thence to the southeast corner of Section 23, Twp. 38 <br />North, Range 2 East; <br />thence west along the south line of Section 23, Twp. 38 <br />North, Range 2 East a distance of 737 feet to <br />a point in the present city limits line; <br />thence thusly along the present city limits line; <br />thence north 573.5 feet, west 496.5 feet, north 2073.62 <br />feet more or less to the south right -of -way line <br />of Darden Road, west along said right -of -way <br />line to the intersection of said right -of -way <br />line with the present city limits on the <br />westerly bank of the St. Joseph River, <br />westerly along the 'south right -of -way line <br />of Darden Road to a point 658.95 feet east <br />of the place where the south right -of -way <br />line of Darden Road intersects the east right - <br />of -way line of Lilac Road, north 431.84 feet, <br />west 658.95 feet to the east right -of -way line <br />of Lilac Road, north along the east right -of -way <br />
