REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 14, 2013 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Schey made a motion to continue Bill Nos. 44-13; 45-13 and 46-13 in the <br />Council Portion Only and set for third reading on October 28, 2013. Councilmember Oliver <br />Davis seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br />BILL NO. 47-13 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE <br /> COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING, <br /> ADOPTING AND APPROVING THE SOUTH <br /> BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br /> CORPORATION’S 2014 BUDGET AND <br /> LEVYING THE TAX AND FIXING THE RATE <br /> OF THE TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> RAISING REVENUE TO FUND THE SOUTH <br /> BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br /> CORPORATION, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER <br /> 31, 2014 <br /> <br />David Cangany, General Manager, South Bend Public Transportation Corporation, 1401 S. <br />Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. <br /> <br />Mr. Cangany advised that TRANSPO is required to submit it proposed budget and tax levy to the <br />City of South Bend Common Council for its review and adoption according to Indiana law. <br /> <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this bill, Councilmember Dieter made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill. Councilmember Scott seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 50-13 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE <br /> COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL <br /> SALARIES FOR THE COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2014 <br /> <br />Councilmember Varner, Chairperson, Personnel & Finance Committee, reported that this <br />committee held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon and sends it to the full Council with a <br />favorable recommendation. <br /> <br />Council President Derek Dieter, 110 N. William, Apt. 104, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this bill. <br /> <br />Council President Dieter advised that the proposed bill would set the Council salary for 2014. <br />He stated that the bill allows for a 2% increase. <br /> <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this bill, Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion for favorable recommendation to full <br />Council concerning this bill.
