That the city purchase medium and <br />small -size passenger cars to reduce <br />initial cost, operating expenses, <br />repair time, and to conserve funds. <br />2. That city -owned vehicles shall not <br />be equipped with air conditioning <br />unless funds are specifically approved <br />by the Council. <br />3. That the number of city -owned vehicles <br />be reduced. This should be based on <br />miles driven for city business only. <br />4. That the vehicle identification number <br />be used on all records pertaining to <br />the purchase, operation and maintenance <br />of each particular vehicle. <br />5. That a policy be established by the <br />administration setting forth when a <br />vehicle may be taken home overnight <br />to a city employee's residence and <br />under what conditions a city employee <br />may receive a car allowance and /or <br />mileage allowance in lieu of a city <br />vehicle. <br />The committee also recommends passage of an <br />ordinance regulating city -owned vehicles.
