Department of Public Parks <br />Administration Building <br />St. Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46617 <br />August 21, 1973 <br />Members of the South Bend Common Council <br />County -City Building <br />217 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council to <br />approve the enclosed ordinance for transfer of funds in the General <br />Park Fund. <br />We are requesting that $59000.00 be transferred to Account #221, <br />Services Contractual, Electric Current to pay for electric current <br />for the balance of the year. Underestimating the electric current <br />costs for-the 1973 budget and the need to install additional park <br />lights in the parks has caused this shortage. <br />Increase account #254 Services Contractual, Repairs to Buildings <br />and Structures $2,000.00. This money will be used to help repair <br />the Potawatomi Shelterhouse which has been the victim of vandalism <br />the past few years. We are also using revenue sharing funds to <br />help repair this structure. <br />Increase Account J2529 Services Contractual, Repairs to Equipment. <br />This money will be used to overhaul the departments aerial tower. <br />The manufacturer has redommendedt for safety reasons, that this six <br />year old piece of equipment be returned to the factory for a <br />complete overhaul. The aerial tower is valued at $189000.00. When <br />men are in this tower, sixty feet above the ground, we cannot take <br />chances on the equipment not being safe. <br />
