E. <br />Director, Public Works <br />Members of the Common Council <br />County /City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Gentlemen: <br />Reply To: Department <br />of Public Works <br />October 8, 1974 <br />There will be an ordinance presented for first reading on October 14, <br />1974, which will appropriate the sum of $53,000 from the Sewage Works <br />Improvement Fund. These funds will be used for the purchase of a <br />Vactor -type sewer cleaning machine with a high pressure water cleaning <br />system. (I say Vactor -type machine because bids will be taken.) <br />Through the addition of this equipment, Mr. Peck feels that he will <br />be able to clean more feet of sewer per year than is presently <br />possible utilizing his sewer drag machines. Mr. Peck has proven this <br />ability through the utilization of his present Vactor. This additional <br />machine will increase his efficiency to a greater extent. <br />As we discussed during the Caucus meeting, we would plan that you cut <br />this item from the proposed 1975 Bureau of Sanitation Budget in lieu <br />of this proposed ordinance. <br />If there are further questions, please feel free to contact me. <br />Very truly yours, <br />'- , <br />Michael L.
