ORDINANCE NO. 5707 -74 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF FIREMEN FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1975. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION 1. The annual pay of the officers and members of the fire force of the City of South Bend for the year 1975, by rank and classification, shall be as follows: Chief ............. Assistant Chief ... Battalion Chief ... Captain ......... Electrician ....... Lieutenant ........ Engineers........ Fireman First Class Fireman ... . Fireman in Training $16,560.00 14,640.00 12,729.00 11,790.00 11,790.00 11,438.00 10,733.00 9,480.00 9,000.00 8,520.00 SECTION 2. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, the officers and members of the fire force shall receive compensation for extra duty and special performance as follows: For recall or overtime pay, $5.00 per hour; For regularly assigned drivers of fire trucks and other heavy equipment, $225.00 per year; For regularly assigned scuba divers, $225.00 per year; For all personnel required to work on legal holidays, $32.00 per holiday worked; this shall apply to the following holidays and no others: New Year's Day Labor Day Lincoln's Birthday Columbus Day Washington's Birthday Veteran's Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Memorial Day Christmas Fourth of July SECTION 3. The Common Council recommends that the city contribution to dependent hospitalization be set at $3.50 per pay period for a total increase of $84.00 per year. SECTION 4. The Common Council recommends that the advancement of rank from Fireman in Training to Engineer be after three years upon satisfactory performance of duty and recommendation of the Board of Safety. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in force and effect for the calendar year commencing January 1, 1975, and ending December 31, 1975. Member of th ommon Council Passed July 22, 1974, as amended.
