CITY OF SOUTH BEND
South Bend, Indiana 46601
Jerry J. Miller
Mayor
James A. Roemer
Director, Department of Law
Peter J. Nemeth, President
South Bend Common Council
County -City Complex
227 W. Jefferson Blvd.
South Bend, Indiana 46601
Dear Pete:
Reply To: James A. Roemer
November 4, 1974
The Department of Law has reviewed, with the help of the City
Engineer's office, the legal descriptions of the six Council -
manic Districts as you had requested. Our conclusions are as
follows:
(1) First District: The legal description is in conformity
with the outlined map of the perimeter of the First District,
with this discrepancy:
(a) line 21 of legal description - after going to a
point in the south right -of -way line of Brick
Road, .(lines 19 -20) the description should take
into account the easterly movement along Brick
Road (along the present City lines). The des-
cription should read, starting the second word
of line 20: "thence in an easterly and southerly
direction along the present city limits..."
(''easterly" should precede "southerly" since the
first movement is easterly).
(2) Second District: The legal description is in conformity
with the outlined map of the perimeter of the Second District,
with this discrepancy:
(a) line 15 of legal description - the correct
description ought to read "east" along the center
line of Western Avenue..."
(3) Third District: The legal description is in conformity
with the outlined map of the perimeter of Third District.
