E. <br />Director, Public Works <br />Members of the Common Council <br />County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Reply To: Department <br />of Public Works <br />September 3, 1975 <br />Since May of this year we have had many major contractual repair jobs <br />due to age and usage of certain vehicles which has largely reduced our <br />dollar amount for contractual services. The majority of these jobs <br />have been done on our slurry seal and paving equipment trucks. Listed <br />is a short summary of six (6) of our trucks and dollar amounts each has <br />cost us to date in 1975. <br />Unit <br />#26 <br />$ 209.80 <br />Unit <br />#27 <br />1452.99 <br />Unit <br />#28 <br />190.77 <br />Unit <br />#29 <br />2435.42 <br />Unit <br />#39 <br />2739.42 <br />Unit <br />#40 <br />3667.84 <br />Total $10,696.24 <br />All of this was transmission, hydraulic, and radiator repair which we are <br />not equipped to handle. These six (6) units have accounted for almost one - <br />third of our expenditure in contractual account and does not reflect the <br />cost of our other 60 some units that need this type of service.
