ORDINANCE NO. 5854 -75 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF <br />FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1976. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br />SECTION 1. The annual pay of the officers and <br />members of the irf— e-Trce of the City of South Bend for the year <br />1976, by rank and classification, shall be as follows: <br />Chief ...................... <br />$17,000 <br />f <br />Assistant Chie............ <br />15,100 <br />Battalion Chief ............ <br />13,145 <br />Captain .................. <br />12,206 <br />Electrician ................ <br />12,206 <br />Lieutenant ................. <br />11,854 <br />Engineer ....... <br />11,149 <br />Firefighter First Class .... <br />9,600 <br />Firefighter .... <br />9,000 <br />Firefighter in Training .... <br />8,520 <br />SECTION 2. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, <br />the officers and members of the fire force shall receive compensa- <br />tion for extra duty and special performance as follows: <br />For recall or overtime pay, $5.00 per hour; <br />For regularly assigned drivers of fire trucks and <br />other heavy equipment, and the tillermen, $225.00 per year; <br />year; <br />For regularly assigned scuba divers, $225.00 per <br />For paramedics, an additional $600.00 per year. <br />For all personnel required to work on legal holidays, <br />$32.00 per holiday worked; this shall apply to the following <br />holidays and no others: <br />New Year's Day Fourth of July <br />Lincoln's Birthday Labor Day <br />Washington's Birthday Columbus Day <br />Good Friday Veteran's Day <br />Easter Sunday Thanksgiving <br />Memorial Day Christmas <br />SECTION 3. The Common Council recommends that the <br />advancement of rank from Firefighter in Training to Engineer be <br />after three years upon satisfactory performance of duty and <br />recommendation of the Board of Safety. <br />SECTION 4. The Common Council recommends that the <br />contribution to dependent hospitalization be increased by $84.00 <br />per year and that the Firefighter's clothing allowance be advanced <br />from $250.00 to $275.00 per year. <br />SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in force and <br />effect for the calendar year commencing January 1, 1976, and ending <br />December 31, 1976. <br />Passed July 28, 1975, as amended <br />
