Director, Public Works Members of the Common Council 441 County -City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 Subject: Model Cities Sewer Separation Engineering Contract Dear Sirs: Reply To: Department of Public Works June 11, 1975 The contract for this design project was signed by the Board of Public Works on October 27, 1972. This contract called for a fee based on a percentage of the construction cost, the fee to be determined by a fee curve which was made part of the contract. The total estimated construction cost of this project is $2,438,913.30. You may recall that a Federal grant of approximately $540,000 has been made available for this construction. Based upon the above referenced construction cost and a fee of 6.08 %, a total engineering fee for this design work is estimated to be approximately $148,285.93. The original appropriation for this design contract was in the amount of $66,000. We are now asking that the remaining portion of this fee, $85,000, be appropriated so that the consultant can be paid. Right -of -way is currently being purchased out of a previous appropriation of approximately $100,000. It is anticipated that plans will be complete and the project ready for construction advertising by the time the right - of -way purchasing is completed. Very truly yours, Rollin E. Farrand, P. E.
