E. <br />Director, <br />Public Works <br />Members of the Common Council <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Re: Island Park and White Water Funding <br />Gentlemen: <br />Reply To: Department <br />of Public Works <br />June 18, 1975 <br />An ordinance is being submitted appropriating $205,500 from the Community <br />Development Block Grant Funds to be received by the City of South Bend <br />under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. <br />These funds shall be used as the City's match to Economic Development <br />Administration grants for the construction of Island Park and the White <br />Water Way. <br />These projects are aspects of the overall Development of the River <br />Corridor, a long term objective of the City of South Bend's Community <br />Development Plan approved by the Common Council April 8, 1975, and <br />consistent with the proposals outlined in the River Corridor Study by <br />Lawson and Associates, accepted by the Common Council in November of <br />1972. <br />The following figures represent the line item cost estimates of these <br />projects, as ,submitted to the Economic Development Authority. <br />White Water Way Total Cost $ 290,000 <br />EDA Title X Grant (80 %) 232,000 <br />City's Match (C.D. Funds) (20 %) 58,000 <br />
