ORDINANCE NO. � 9 30 --7,r <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4207 ENTITLED <br />"AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE OF SEWAGE <br />CHARGES TO ALL USERS OF CITY SEWER SERVICE OR CITY <br />WATER SERVICE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPAIR AND /OR <br />REPLACEMENT OF WATER SERVICE LINES, SHUT -OFF BOXES <br />AND WATER METER MANHOLES, (AS AMENDED). <br />That Ordinance No. 4207, which ordinance was adopted on the 13th day of <br />January, 1958, and amended the 24th day of February, 1959 is hereby amended <br />further to read as follows: <br />Section I <br />That the sum of twenty -four (.24) cents per month be <br />added to the water service charge of all water users. <br />Section II <br />That all of said sums of money so collected be deposited <br />in a separate fund of the Bureau of Wastewater and that <br />said fund be used solely for the repair and /or replace- <br />ment of leaking water service lines and shut -off valves. <br />Section III <br />Funds so collected shall be used for the payment of re- <br />pairs and /or replacement as provided herein from the <br />water main to the front wall of any building, or a line <br />extended therefrom, but it shall not insure any water <br />service line under any porch, steps, slab foundation, <br />crawl space, or in any room or space under any sidewalk. <br />In the case of two inch lines or larger, the repairs <br />provided hereunder shall extend from the water main to <br />the property line only. <br />Section IV <br />Water sprinkler service lines shall not be insured under <br />this Ordinance. However, if the regular service line has <br />a lawn sprinkling connection tee in it, said service line <br />and the tee will be insured, but not any costs of repair <br />to the lawn sprinkling system proper. <br />Section V <br />The insurance of repair and /or replacement shall not be <br />in force on any account if the charge for such insurance <br />has not been paid for the last four months. <br />Section VI <br />All work performed on said repair and /or replacement of <br />water lines shall be in accordance with the provisions <br />set forth in the Plumbing Code for the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana. No claim for the repair of a water service line <br />under this Ordinance will be honored unless said repair <br />order is approved by the manager of the Bureau of Water. <br />Section VII The manager of <br />Common Council <br />financial stat <br />second meeting <br />shall show the <br />penditures. <br />the Bureau of Water shall submit to the <br />of the Municipal City of South Bend a <br />ament of the affairs of this fund at its <br />of January of each year, which statement <br />receipts for the year as well as all ex- <br />Section VIII This Ordinance shall not cover the maintenance of any <br />service line. <br />
