CITY OF SOUTH BEND
South Bend, Indiana 46601
Jerry J. Miller
Mayor October 15, 1975
William P. Hojnacki
Director, Human Resources and
Economic Development
Mr. Roger Parent
President
South Bend Common Council
4th Floor County -City Bldg.
South Bend, IN 46601
Dear Mr. Parent:
Reply To:
Attached is the budgetfor 1976 South Bend Bicentennial activities.
We are asking for $14,600 in revenue sharing funds to cover two items included
in this budget, the Ethnic Festival and the Fourth of July fireworks display.
The reason we are asking for the common council to commit these
funds now is because of the necessity for early planning and because in the
case of the fireworks the necessity to sign a contract at the earliest
possible date.
The South Bend Bicentennial Committee has functioned for two years
now with virtually no city funds and is scheduled to go out of existence
at the end of 1976. I believe it is fitting that the city of South Bend
contribute to the celebration of the nation's 200th birthday by supporting
the events that we have scheduled for 1976.
Your support for this measure will be appreciated.
Sincereell y j
el
William P.
