AKIN, P.E., L.S. <br />Honorable Members of the City of August 6, 2002 <br />South Bend Common Council <br />4th .Floor County-City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />RE: Rezoning Petition for Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc. for <br />property at 103 North St. Louis Blvd., 615 & 619 East <br />Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana: <br />Dear Council Members: <br />Our clients, Underwriter's Laboratories, are requesting the approval of a Rezoning <br />for their property at 103 North St. Louis Blvd., 615 and 619 East Washington Street for the <br />construction of a 33 space parking facility. The eastern portion of this site was approved <br />previously by the Council fora 26 space parking area, and since that rezoning, the owner was <br />able to purchase the west portion of the site that abuts the alley. With this purchase, the <br />parking area could be expanded to the proposed 33 spaces and the original driveway opening <br />onto St. Louis Blvd. would be closed with an access drive added to the alley on the west side of <br />the site. This additional proposed parking will help supplement, the other existing parking <br />areas around the Underwriter's Laboratory new building.
