<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, GENERALLY KNOWN
<br />AS THE BUILDING ORDINANCE, REGULATING THE ERECTION,
<br />CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGEMENT, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT,
<br />USE, HEIGHT, AREA, AND "MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS OR
<br />STRUCTURES; REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE DESIGN,
<br />CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION, QUALITY OF MATERIALS,
<br />LOCATION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF HEATING,
<br />VENTILATING, COOLING, REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS,
<br />INCINERATORS AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS HEAT- PRODUCING
<br />APPLIANCES; REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE ERECTION,
<br />INSTALLATION, ALTERATION, ADDITION, REPAIR, RELOCATION,
<br />REPLACEMENT, MAINTENANCE OR USE OF ANY PLUMBING SYSTEM;
<br />PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE. OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF
<br />FEES THEREOF, DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE DISTRICTS;
<br />PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND
<br />REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
<br />CONFLICT THEREWITH.
<br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
<br />The purpose and intent of this Ordinance is to provide for the
<br />protection of life, public safety, and real and personal property in
<br />the design and construction of buildings and structures in the City
<br />of South Bend, Indiana, and further, to bring the sections of the
<br />Municipal Code of South Bend, Indiana, dealing with such buildings
<br />and structures into conformity with State law as provided under
<br />I.C. 22- 11 -1 -1 et. seq.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
<br />of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
<br />SECTION I. Chapter 6, Article 1, Section 6 -1(a) (1) of the
<br />Municipal Code of the City of South Bend is amended as follows:
<br />(1) Baeile ga4144!ng Gode Indiana Construction Rules and
<br />Regulations means the Building Code of the City;
<br />SECTION II. Chapter 6, Article 1, Section 6 -4(a) except for sub-
<br />parts CIT through (16) inclusive of the Municipal Code of the City
<br />of South Bend is amended as follows:
<br />(a) The fees to be charged for the issuing of permits by the
<br />Building Department, not otherwise provided for in the Bae4!e Build-
<br />ing Code adopted by Section 6 -5, shall be paid at the time the per-
<br />mit is issued and shall be as follows:
<br />SECTION III. Chapter 6, Article 2, Section 6 -5, of the Munici-
<br />pal Code of the City of South Bend is amended as follows:

<br />Administrative Building Council of Indiana together with any and all
<br />reference thereto is made a part of this Chapter with the same force
<br />and effect as though set out in full herein as the official Building
<br />Code of the City except for such changes, additions or deletions as
<br />are specified in this Chapter. At least €een 444 two (2) copies of
<br />such B99A 8ae3e Building Code with such amendments and supplements
<br />are on file and open for public inspection in the office of the City
<br />Clerk.
