NEMETH, Mayor <br />COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 <br />May 4, 1977 <br />Members of the Common Council <br />441 County /City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: R & S 93 - Edison Road Improvement <br />Dear Councilmen: <br />219/284 -9251 <br />The attached ordinance, appropriating a total of $115,000, will enable <br />the Board of Public Works to enter into a construction contract for the <br />widening and reconstruction of Edison Road from Ironwood Drive to Hickory <br />Road. <br />This existing roadway is in a very poor state of repair. It is proposed <br />that curbing and widening be installed in those areas along this section <br />of Edison Road at which they presently do not exist, and that the entire <br />roadway be resurfaced. <br />The City of Mishawaka has indicated that they are interested in pursuing <br />the redesign and possible signalization of the intersection of Hickory and <br />Edison Roads. The total appropriation of $115,000 includes monies sufficient <br />to address approximately one - quarter of this estimated reconstruction <br />activity at the intersection. <br />Your favorable recommendation is requested. <br />Ver truly yours, <br />atrick M.
