As you will note in the budget comparison print -out, which will be supplied to you prior to the public hearing, the 1977 budget being proposed reflects a decrease from that budget proposed and approved for 1976. Through a close working relationship between the garage management and the Controller's Office, we have identified areas where we feel costs can be controlled and cut. At the same time, we are not lower- ing the level of service or neglecting maintenance on the structures themselves. The 1977 proposed budget contains basically the same level of expend- itures with the following exceptions: 1. Temporary help and overtime have been reduced. 2. 215.0 Car Allowance has been reduced. 3. 260.0 Services Contractual contains $16,000.00 to facilitate the exterior patching and painting of both structures. 4. 330.0 Janitorial Supplies has been reduced by $2,000.00 The budget for 1977 is four percent lower than that approved for 1976.
