ORDINANCE NO. 6245 -77 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $130,000.00 FROM <br />THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND, <br />TO IMPROVE THE FIRE - FIGHTING CAPACITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND'S FIRE DEPARTMENT, TO BE ADMINI- <br />STERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS <br />DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES /DIVISION OF <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />PUBLIC WORKS. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The equitable and fiscally sound provision of basic <br />services, including supporting capital facilities and infra- <br />structure, is the foundation of the quality of the City's resi- <br />dential areasand.neighborhoods. The many public and private <br />services and supporting facilities, whether at the neighborhood, <br />community, or city level, are essential to the city resident's <br />existence. In order to maintain and upgrade the quality of the <br />city's neighborhoods and provide these necessary public services <br />and facilities, certain public works projects and programs will <br />be conducted by the Department of Public Works. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $130,000.00 is hereby appro- <br />priated for the year starting July 7, 1977 from the City of <br />South Bend's Community Development Block Grant Fund (Program <br />Year 1977). The appropriation shall be used within the <br />boundaries of the Community Development "target areas" as <br />approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development under Title Twenty -Four (24), Code of Federal re- <br />gulations, Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the Community <br />Development Program Year 1977. The appropriation shall be <br />administered by the Division of Community Development and the <br />Department of Public Works as set forth below: <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM <br />PROGRAM - CD - 77 - 605 <br />FIRE STATION CONSTRUCTION <br />PROGRAM - CD - 77 - 605 <br />VEHICLE PURCHASE <br />ACCOUNT DESCRIPTION AMOUNT <br />260.0 Other Contractuals $130,000.00 <br />TOTAL $130,000.00 <br />SECTION II.
