Hunt <br />Deputy Director M E M 0 R A N D U M <br />TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />FROM CARL ELLISON U�/(,Q <br />SUBJECT: SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOR THE <br />SPANISH SPEAKING COMMUNITY <br />DATE NOVEMBER 9, 1977 <br />219/284 -9335 <br />The City's FY 77 Community Development Plan calls for <br />the establishment of a planning and program development activity <br />involving the Midwest Council of LaRaza, ACTION, Inc., and CETA. <br />If the attached appropriation ordinance is adopted, <br />necessary funding will become available to: <br />(1) develop social service programs distinctly <br />beneficial to South Bend's spanish- speaking <br />citizens; and <br />(2) seek funding for the development of a multi- <br />service community center for growing concen- <br />trations of spanish- speaking persons within <br />several of South Bend's neighborhoods. <br />CETA funds will be used to hire a project director and <br />secretary. The proposed $5,000 of Community Development funds <br />will be used to cover non - personnel costs more clearly delineated <br />by the following line item budget: <br />Consultant and Contract Services <br />$ 700 <br />Travel <br />500 <br />Supplies <br />700 <br />Equipment Rental <br />540 <br />Telephone <br />1,200 <br />Postage <br />500 <br />Printing /Publications <br />860 <br />$5,000 <br />
