ORDINANCE NO. �4Qj7g.ii <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $30,000.00 FROM THE <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND, FOR THE <br />PROVISION OF DAY CARE SERVICES, TO BE ADMINISTERED <br />BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DIVISION <br />OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE COMMUNITY <br />COORDINATED CHILD CARE OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The purpose of the Day Care Community Development <br />Subsidy Project is to provide services of high quality day <br />care centers to low- and moderate - income families residing <br />in the seven Community Development target areas whose incomes <br />fall between fifty (50) percent and eighty (80) percent of the <br />area's median income and who otherwise cannot reasonably afford <br />these services. An additional intent is to encourage expansion <br />of economic opportunities particularly for female heads of <br />households by assisting them with excessive day care costs while <br />they are employed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $30,000.00 is hereby appropriated <br />for the program year starting July 7, 1977, from the City of <br />South Bends Community Development Block Grant Fund (Program Year <br />1977). The appropriation shall be used within the boundaries of <br />the Community Development "target areas" as approved by the United <br />States Department of Housing and Urban Development under Title <br />Twenty -Four (24), Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred <br />and Seventy (570) for the Program Year 1977. The appropriation <br />shall be administered by the Division of Community Development <br />and the Community Coordinated Child Care of St. Joseph County, <br />Inc. <br />PROGRAM - CD - 77 -801 <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM <br />PURPOSE AMOUNT <br />Provision of Day Care Services $309,000.00 <br />SECTION II.
